It is not a placeable block — it is an item that lives in your inventory and crafting grid, gating progression from the Macerator and Extractor up to machines and gear like the Miner, Pump, Jetpack, and BatPack. Each Electronic Circuit is crafted in a 3x3 grid from 6 Copper Cable across the top and bottom rows, 2 Redstone on the sides of the middle row, and 1 Iron in the center (the pattern also works rotated 90 degrees), which means every circuit consumes 3 copper, 2 redstone, and 1 iron. Copper Cable is produced by combining 1 Copper with a Cutter (2 cables per craft), and Iron is made by hammering 1 Iron Ingot with a Forge Hammer, so circuits depend on a steady copper and iron supply. Because dozens of IC2 recipes require this part — Macerator, Extractor, Compressor, Canning Machine, Ore Washing Plant, Miner, and the Advanced Circuit upgrade — players typically batch-craft 16 to 32 circuits early on.
