Description

The Crop Harvester is an Industrial Craft 2 automation machine that harvests every type of crop planted on Crop Sticks (the mod's crop supports) rather than on plain farmland. The Crop Harvester covers a 9x9x3 working area — four blocks to each horizontal side and one block above and below — which is enough to automate a full crop field. Harvested items collect in a small internal inventory, and an Ejector upgrade pushes the output into an adjacent chest. The shaped crafting recipe places a Chest between two Circuits in the top row, Shears on both sides of the middle row, and a Cropnalyzer at the bottom center.

Potatoes show why a Cropnalyzer matters: potatoes left growing too long turn into poisonous potatoes, and with a Cropnalyzer provided the Crop Harvester cuts the crop in time. Place the Crop Harvester at the center of an Industrial Craft 2 crop field and plant every crop on Crop Sticks, since crops on plain farmland stay untouched. Route the internal inventory into a nearby chest with an Ejector upgrade, and the Crop Harvester handles the field while the player works elsewhere.

Guide

How to Craft and Use the Crop Harvester in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

    Craft the Crop Harvester

Open a crafting table and assemble the recipe: Chest in the top middle, Circuits in the top corners, Shears on the middle sides, and a Cropnalyzer at the bottom center.

  2. 2

    Plant crops on Crop Sticks

Grow Industrial Craft 2 crops on Crop Sticks instead of plain farmland, because the Crop Harvester only cuts crops planted on Crop Sticks.

  3. 3

Center the Crop Harvester on the field

Place the Crop Harvester so the crops fill the 9x9x3 working area: four blocks to every horizontal side and one block above and below.

  4. 4

    Provide a Cropnalyzer for potatoes

Give the Crop Harvester a Cropnalyzer so potatoes are harvested in time, before potatoes turn into poisonous potatoes.

  5. 5

Route the output with an Ejector upgrade

Install an Ejector upgrade so harvested items leave the internal inventory and land in an adjacent chest.

Manual emptying without an Ejector

Harvested items collect in a small internal inventory — without an Ejector upgrade the Crop Harvester has to be emptied by hand.

Frequently asked questions

What area does the Crop Harvester harvest?

The Crop Harvester cuts crops in a 9x9x3 area: four blocks to every horizontal side and one block above and below.

How do you craft the Crop Harvester?

The crafting recipe combines two Circuits, a Chest, two Shears and a Cropnalyzer on the 3x3 crafting grid.

Why does the Crop Harvester need a Cropnalyzer?

Crops such as potatoes spoil when left growing too long — potatoes turn into poisonous potatoes — and a Cropnalyzer lets the Crop Harvester cut the crop in time.

Does the Crop Harvester empty its own inventory?

Harvested items collect in a small internal inventory, and an Ejector upgrade pushes the items into an adjacent inventory.

Does the Crop Harvester cut crops planted on farmland?

No. The Crop Harvester only harvests crops planted on Crop Sticks; crops planted directly on farmland are ignored.
