Description

2xIns. HV Cable is Industrial Craft 2's double-insulated high-voltage power line, crafted from one Insulated HV Cable and one Rubber in a shapeless grid. Industrial Craft 2 ranks the HV Cable tier above copper and gold cables, and the second rubber layer on 2xIns. HV Cable reduces the EU lost per block and removes the shock damage that uninsulated HV cables inflict on players and mobs. The cable carries the same high voltage as the base HV Cable while delivering more current to the destination over long distances. Nuclear Reactors and MFE storage units feed their output through 2xIns. HV Cable runs when the generator sits hundreds of blocks from the machine farm.

Builders deploy 2xIns. HV Cable to wire MFSU and MFE banks to Industrial Craft 2 machines without leaking current or electrocuting anything that walks past. One Rubber sheet upgrades an Insulated HV Cable into 2xIns. HV Cable, and a third Rubber sheet turns the result into a 3xIns. HV Cable for the longest, lowest-loss runs. Industrial Craft 2 pairs the cable with EU Detector Cables and Splitter Cables that read or redirect the same high-voltage current. For power networks that push large EU across hundreds of blocks, 2xIns. HV Cable is the practical middle ground between the cheaper single-insulated version and the fully wrapped three-layer cable.

Industrial Craft 2 Guide

How to craft and use 2xIns. HV Cable in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

Craft from an Insulated HV Cable

Place one Insulated HV Cable and one Rubber anywhere in a crafting grid. The recipe is shapeless and yields one 2xIns. HV Cable.

  2. 2

    Connect a power source

Run the 2xIns. HV Cable from an MFE, MFSU, or Nuclear Reactor output to the Industrial Craft 2 machines that need EU.

  3. 3

Lay the cable for minimal loss

Each extra insulation layer lowers the EU lost per block, so prefer 2xIns. HV Cable over single-insulated runs on long power lines.

  4. 4

    Upgrade to triple insulation

Combine one 2xIns. HV Cable with one more Rubber to craft a 3xIns. HV Cable for the longest and lowest-loss power lines.

Insulation and shock damage

Uninsulated HV cables shock players and mobs on contact. Two layers of insulation remove that danger and reduce energy loss, but 2xIns. HV Cable still carries the same high voltage as the base HV Cable.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft 2xIns. HV Cable?

Place one Insulated HV Cable and one Rubber anywhere in a shapeless crafting grid. The output is one 2xIns. HV Cable.

What voltage does 2xIns. HV Cable carry?

2xIns. HV Cable sits in Industrial Craft 2's high-voltage tier, above copper and gold cables. Insulation affects energy loss and safety, not the voltage class.

Does the second insulation layer reduce energy loss?

Yes. Each rubber layer on an HV Cable lowers the EU lost per block, so 2xIns. HV Cable delivers more current over distance than the single-insulated version.

Is 2xIns. HV Cable safe to touch?

Yes. Insulated HV cables do not shock players or mobs, unlike uninsulated HV cables which deal damage on contact.

Can you upgrade 2xIns. HV Cable further?

Yes. Combine one 2xIns. HV Cable with one Rubber to craft a 3xIns. HV Cable with triple insulation for the lowest-loss long-distance runs.
