How many Eyes of Ender do I need?

At least two — one per throw. Eyes have a chance to shatter when thrown, so bring a few spares. The calculator itself only needs the data from two successful throws.

Where do I find the angle?

Press F3 and look at the Facing line. The first number in the brackets is the Yaw — that is the angle. Aim your crosshair exactly at the thrown Eye before reading it.

Why is my result so far off?

Accepted Answer

The most common causes are moving while aiming, rounding the angle, or making both throws too close together. Throw from points 500-1000 blocks apart and read the Yaw to one decimal place.

Does this work in Bedrock Edition?

The triangulation math is the same, but Bedrock has no F3 screen and different stronghold generation. This tool is built around the Java Edition Facing yaw. On Bedrock you would need another way to read your exact look angle.

Question 5

Both throws must target the same stronghold?

Accepted Answer

Yes. An Eye of Ender always flies toward the nearest stronghold. If you walk far enough that a different stronghold becomes the closest one, the two rays point at different targets and the result is meaningless. Stay in the same region between throws.

Question 6

Do I need to throw a third Eye?

Accepted Answer

No. Two throws are mathematically enough to pin down the stronghold. A third throw can confirm the result, but with a clean, wide-angle pair of throws the two-throw answer is already precise.
