The Nether coordinate calculator converts a point from one dimension to the other.
The two worlds are tied by a one-to-eight ratio: one block in the Nether equals eight blocks in the Overworld. So to make a portal come out where you actually want it, the coordinates have to be divided or multiplied.
Type your coordinates and the calculator immediately shows the matching pair for the other dimension along with a ready teleport command you can copy with one button.
Next to it are the notes on what usually goes wrong. Portals link to the wrong place if you build them closer than sixteen blocks apart: the game ties the new portal to an existing one. For automatic generation the height is limited to the range from seventy to one hundred and eighteen. And the world border in the Nether is eight times smaller, so you cannot walk past the edge through it.
