The stack calculator works out how much room your items will take up in Minecraft.
Items sit in the inventory in piles, and a pile is not endless: most blocks gather in sixty-fours, ender pearls, snowballs and buckets only in sixteens, while tools, armour and potions do not stack at all — one per slot. That is why "how many chests do I need" cannot be guessed.
The calculator works in three directions: items into stacks with a remainder, stacks back into items, and the capacity of a chosen container. All the containers are there: the player inventory at thirty-six slots, a chest and a barrel at twenty-seven, a double chest at fifty-four, a hopper at five.
There is also a switch that fills every slot with a shulker box. One shulker box holds twenty-seven stacks, and a double chest packed with shulker boxes stores items to the number of ninety-three thousand three hundred twelve. Putting a shulker box inside another one is not allowed. Stack sizes and slot counts are the same in both editions, so the result fits either one.
