The potion generator builds your own potion and hands you the finished give command.
There are five kinds: an ordinary potion, a splash potion, a lingering potion, a tipped arrow and an ominous bottle. Effects number exactly thirty-nine — everything the game has: helpful, harmful and neutral, along with the recent Wind Charged, Weaving, Oozing and Infested. Each one takes an amplifier and a duration, up to infinite, plus the particles and the icon in the corner of the screen.
After that the potion gets dressed up: your own colour, your own name and a description in the tooltip. The preview shows the bottle exactly as it will look in the inventory. And if building from scratch is not appealing, ready-made sets sit right beside it.
At the bottom the command comes out in two formats, for newer builds and for older ones: the way item properties are stored changed at one point. For anyone brewing by hand, the generator also shows the brewing stand recipe — which potion and which ingredient give the one you want.
