Redstone Dust
Redstone Dust is Minecraft's wiring material, carrying a power signal up to 15 blocks to drive doors, pistons, lamps, and complex contraptions.
Description
Placed on the ground, Redstone Dust becomes redstone wire that transmits a power signal up to 15 blocks before a Redstone Repeater is needed to refresh it back to full strength. Redstone Dust crafts the core of every contraption — Redstone Torch, Redstone Repeater, Comparator, Piston, Dispenser, Dropper, Observer, Note Block, Redstone Lamp, Compass, and Clock — and nine dust compress into one Redstone Block for compact storage and a constant power source. In brewing, Redstone Dust extends a potion's duration. For survival builders, keeping a full stack of Redstone Dust on hand is the difference between a manual farm and a fully automatic one.

3
Power a component
Connect the wire to a lever, button, or Redstone Torch on one end and a door, piston, or lamp on the other to control it.

How far does a redstone signal travel?
Redstone Dust carries a signal up to 15 blocks. After that you need a Redstone Repeater to refresh it back to full strength of 15.
Is Redstone Dust renewable?
Yes. Witches drop Redstone Dust and master-level cleric villagers sell 4 dust for one emerald, so the supply is renewable without mining.
What can you craft with Redstone Dust?
Redstone Dust crafts Redstone Torches, Repeaters, Comparators, Pistons, Dispensers, Observers, Redstone Lamps, Clocks, a Compass, and a Redstone Block.
Does Redstone Dust work in brewing?
