Description
Redstone Ore generates near the bottom of the Overworld, between y=−64 and y=15, with the highest density around y=−59. The block has a striking property: it lights up and emits red particles when a player or mob walks across it, making it a visual cue that can be exploited as a temporary light source or pressure-plate alternative. An iron pickaxe is the minimum required tool.
Mining one block drops four to five redstone dust, with extra drops under Fortune. Dust is the lifeblood of every circuit in the game — it conducts power, transmits signals, and combines into repeaters, comparators, observers, dispensers, droppers, pistons, and clocks. Nine dust compress into a redstone block, which conducts a permanent signal and is also used for crafting. Silk Touch returns the ore as-is, useful for collectors who want the glowing block intact.
