Canning Machine — Minecraft block

Canning Machine

The Canning Machine is Industrial Craft 2's food-and-fluid processor: it cans food into stackable Tin Cans, loads Fuel Rods and enriches liquids at 1 EU (energy unit) per tick.

Description

The Canning Machine is the kitchen and fuel station of Industrial Craft 2: one block that cans food, loads uranium Fuel Rods, moves fluids between containers and enriches liquids, all while drawing just 1 EU per tick from a low-voltage feed of up to 32 EU per tick. The Canning Machine's recipe costs seven Tin, one Electronic Circuit and one Machine Block. In canning mode the Canning Machine packs any food into Tin Cans: the canned food stacks to 64, restores 1 hunger point plus 3.2 saturation per can, is eaten faster than regular meals, and cans made from different foods stack together because every can comes out identical. Canning mode also loads uranium fuel into empty Fuel Rods for the Nuclear Reactor.

The two tank modes turn the Canning Machine into a fluid pump: the drain mode empties buckets and fluid cells into the left tank, and the fill mode pumps liquid back into containers or refuels the Jetpack directly. Fluid Enrich mode mixes the tank's liquid with an item from the center slot — water plus lapis becomes reactor coolant, and the same mode produces biomass and construction foam. Overclocker, transformer, energy storage and ejector upgrades fit the Canning Machine's upgrade slots, and a Bronze Wrench lifts the Canning Machine without breaking it. The empty Tin Can returns after every meal, so one stack of cans keeps a whole base fed indefinitely.

Guide

Canning Machine: setup and all four modes

  1. 1

    Craft the machine

Combine seven Tin, one Electronic Circuit and one Machine Block on the crafting grid to produce one Canning Machine.

  2. 2

    Place and connect power

Set the Canning Machine in the workshop and connect a low-voltage cable: the Canning Machine accepts up to 32 EU per tick while working.

  3. 3

    Can your first food

Open the Canning Machine interface, put Tin Cans in the top-left container slot and any food in the center slot, then switch the mode button to canning — each Tin Can leaves as canned food that restores 1 hunger point.

  4. 4

    Load Fuel Rods

Keep canning mode selected and place an empty Fuel Rod in the container slot with uranium fuel in the center slot to prepare fuel for the Nuclear Reactor.

  5. 5

    Move and enrich fluids

Switch the Canning Machine to drain mode to empty buckets into the tank, to fill mode to refill containers or the Jetpack, and to Fluid Enrich to turn water plus lapis into coolant.

Cans come back

Eating canned food returns the empty Tin Can to the inventory instead of consuming it, so a small stock of cans feeds a base indefinitely — carry spare Tin Cans on long trips.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Canning Machine do in Industrial Craft 2?

The Canning Machine works in four modes: canning food into Tin Cans, loading uranium Fuel Rods, draining fluid containers into the tank, and enriching liquids such as turning water plus lapis into coolant.

How good is canned food from the Canning Machine?

Each can restores 1 hunger point plus 3.2 saturation, is eaten faster than regular food, and canned food stacks to 64 — cans made from different foods stack together because every can is identical.

How much power does the Canning Machine need?

The Canning Machine draws 1 EU per tick and accepts low voltage up to 32 EU per tick through connected cables.

What is the Canning Machine recipe in Industrial Craft 2?

Seven Tin, one Electronic Circuit and one Machine Block on a crafting grid produce one Canning Machine.

Can the Canning Machine refuel a Jetpack?

Yes. The fill mode pumps liquid from the tank into the Jetpack or back into buckets and fluid cells.

Which upgrades fit the Canning Machine?

The Canning Machine accepts overclocker, transformer, energy storage, ejector and fluid ejector upgrades in its upgrade slots.
