Description

The Pump is a tier 1 machine in Industrial Craft 2 that drains water and lava into an internal tank, so buckets and fluid cells are optional rather than required. Low voltage runs the machine: 32 EU per tick maximum input, 1–2 EU per tick working draw, 200 EU of buffer storage. Without upgrades, one pumping operation completes every 20 ticks — one tick is 1/20 of a second, so the cycle repeats every second. The Pump draws liquid from whichever side the grate texture faces, and a Wrench rotates that grate without breaking the machine.

Placed directly beside a Miner, the Pump automatically removes the water and lava the Miner encounters underground, keeping mining shafts dry. Stored liquid leaves through an empty bucket or a Universal Fluid Cell in the top item slot, or a Fluid Ejector Upgrade pushes liquid straight into an adjacent machine or pipe. Lava gathered by the Pump fuels a Geothermal Generator with steady output, and the crafting recipe — a Machine Block, an Electronic Circuit, a Treetap, Mining Pipes and Universal Fluid Cells — is within reach early in any Industrial Craft 2 base.

How to use the Pump in Industrial Craft 2

    Craft the Pump

    Combine a Machine Block, an Electronic Circuit, a Treetap, Mining Pipes and Universal Fluid Cells on the crafting grid to assemble one Pump.

    Connect low-voltage power

    Wire a tier 1 energy source to the machine — the Pump accepts up to 32 EU per tick and buffers 200 EU internally.

    Aim the grate at the liquid

    The Pump drains from the side its grate texture faces; rotate the machine with a Wrench until the grate points at the water or lava source.

    Set up the output

    Drop an empty bucket or a Universal Fluid Cell into the top item slot for bottled liquid, or install a Fluid Ejector Upgrade to push liquid into an adjacent machine or pipe.

    Pair the machine with a Miner

    Place the Pump directly next to a Miner so the water and lava the Miner meets underground are drained automatically and the shaft stays dry.

Cells and buckets are optional
