Treetap is the IC2 hand tool for harvesting Sticky Resin: one right-click on a wet resin hole in Rubber Wood yields 1–3 Sticky Resin for rubber production.
Description
The Treetap is crafted from 5 wood planks — one top-center, three across the middle row, one bottom-left. Smelt Sticky Resin in a Furnace for 1 Rubber per piece, or run it through an Extractor for 3 Rubber each, tripling the yield. Rubber insulates nearly every IC2 cable (glass fibre, Detector and Splitter cables excepted) and goes into the Hazmat Suit. The wooden Treetap wears out quickly, so keep a spare or upgrade to the Electric Treetap, which consumes EU instead of durability, recharges in a BatBox or other storage device, and never breaks; that upgrade is crafted from a regular Treetap plus a Small Power Unit. The Treetap is a tool item, not a placeable block.

Craft the Treetap
Place 5 wood planks on the crafting grid: one top-center, three across the middle row, and one bottom-left. The pattern yields a single Treetap.

Find a Rubber Tree
Search swamp, forest, birch forest and taiga biomes — rubber trees are most frequent in swamps. Look for the orange spot of a wet resin hole on the sides of Rubber Wood logs.

Right-click the wet resin hole
Hold the Treetap and right-click the orange spot to collect 1–3 Sticky Resin. The hole dries out after harvesting and slowly fills again over time.

Process Sticky Resin into Rubber
Smelt Sticky Resin in a Furnace for 1 Rubber per piece. An Extractor is more efficient: 1 Sticky Resin yields 3 Rubber, and the machine also processes Rubber Wood and saplings.

Carry a spare or upgrade
The wooden Treetap breaks quickly, so pack a spare. The Electric Treetap consumes EU instead of durability, charges in a BatBox, and never wears out.
Plant a rubber tree farm and grow the saplings with Bone Meal: a steady supply of Sticky Resin removes the early-game rubber bottleneck for IC2 cables.
