Description

The Fluid Pulling Upgrade is an Industrial Craft 2 module placed inside a machine to add automatic liquid intake. Like the standard Pulling Upgrade for items, the Fluid Pulling Upgrade handles fluids: the module pulls liquid into the machine from a chosen side — first valid, top, north, south, west, east or bottom. Clicking a block face with the Fluid Pulling Upgrade in hand sets the side used for importing liquids. Not every Industrial Craft 2 machine accepts every upgrade module; hovering over the blue and white 'i' icon in the upper-left corner of the machine GUI shows which upgrades the machine supports.

One Fluid Pulling Upgrade is crafted from 4 Tin, 1 Treetap and 1 Electric Motor in a shaped grid: Tin, Treetap and Tin across the top row, an Electric Motor in the center, and Tin at the left and right of the bottom row. Replacing the 4 Tin with 4 Dense Tin in the same layout yields 9 Fluid Pulling Upgrades from a single craft. The Fluid Pulling Upgrade is an item, not a block placed in the world — the module lives in upgrade slots, usually at the right-hand side of the machine GUI.

Guide

How to craft and use the Fluid Pulling Upgrade in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

    Craft one module

Place 4 Tin, 1 Treetap and 1 Electric Motor in a shaped grid: Tin, Treetap and Tin across the top row, an Electric Motor in the center, and Tin at the left and right of the bottom row.

  2. 2

    Craft nine at once

Keep the same layout but substitute 4 Dense Tin for the 4 Tin; the dense recipe yields 9 Fluid Pulling Upgrades in a single craft.

  3. 3

    Check machine compatibility

Open the Industrial Craft 2 machine GUI and hover over the blue and white 'i' icon in the upper-left corner to confirm the machine accepts the Fluid Pulling Upgrade.

  4. 4

    Insert the upgrade

Place the Fluid Pulling Upgrade into an upgrade slot of the machine; upgrade slots usually sit at the right-hand side of the machine GUI.

  5. 5

    Set the intake side

Click a block face with the Fluid Pulling Upgrade in hand to choose the side the machine imports liquids from: first valid, top, north, south, west, east or bottom.

Check the tooltip

The tooltip of the Fluid Pulling Upgrade lists every side the module can import liquids from: first valid, top, north, south, west, east or bottom.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Fluid Pulling Upgrade different from the Fluid Ejector Upgrade?

The Fluid Ejector Upgrade automatically pushes liquids out of an Industrial Craft 2 machine, while the Fluid Pulling Upgrade pulls liquids in — automatic output versus automatic input.

Is there an advanced version of the Fluid Pulling Upgrade?

Yes — an item named Advanced Fluid Pulling exists in Industrial Craft 2 as a separate upgrade module; the basic Fluid Pulling Upgrade crafted from Tin, Treetap and an Electric Motor remains the standard fluid intake module.

Is the Fluid Pulling Upgrade placed in the world like a block?

No. The Fluid Pulling Upgrade is an item that goes into a machine's upgrade slot; installing the module involves no block placement in the world.

Which Industrial Craft 2 version do the Fluid Pulling Upgrade recipes come from?

Both Fluid Pulling Upgrade recipes — the Tin version and the Dense Tin version — come from the Industrial Craft 2 1.12.2 experimental branch.
