Iron Ingot
Iron Ingot powers early progression by crafting durable tools, armor, buckets, shields, rails, and redstone components.
Description
Iron Ingot is required for tools, armor, shields, buckets, shears, hoppers, pistons, rails, anvils, cauldrons, compasses, and many other recipes. A full iron armor set needs 24 ingots, and a complete tool set of pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, and sword needs 11 ingots. Keep early ingots for a bucket, shield, and iron pickaxe before spending iron on decorative or transport recipes.
Smelting guide
How to obtain and use Iron Ingots in Minecraft
-
1
Collect an iron source
Mine iron ore or deepslate iron ore and break it to collect raw iron; an iron pickaxe is not required for ordinary iron ore.
-
2
Smelt the material
Place raw iron or either iron ore in a furnace with fuel, or use a blast furnace to finish the same job twice as fast.
-
3
Prioritize essential recipes
Use the first ingots for a shield, bucket, and iron pickaxe, then expand into armor, hoppers, rails, anvils, and redstone builds.
Nine Iron Ingots craft one iron block, and one iron block converts back into nine ingots without loss.
