Description

Iron Dust is the ore-doubling output of the Macerator in Ala Industrial, the tech and industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition) on Fabric and NeoForge. The Macerator grinds one iron ore block or one raw iron into 2 Iron Dust at a cost of 300 EU (2 EU/t over 150 ticks), so a single vein yields twice as much metal as vanilla smelting. Iron Dust stacks to 64, carries no energy itself, and is the intermediate that closes the ore-doubling loop: 1 ore becomes 2 dust, then 2 Iron Ingot.

Iron Dust converts back to metal through the Electric Furnace (2 EU/t for 100 ticks, 200 EU total) or a vanilla furnace or blast furnace (200 ticks, 0.5 XP), always returning 1 Iron Ingot per dust. Grinding a finished Iron Ingot in the Macerator produces only 1 Iron Dust, so the ingot-dust-ingot loop nets zero and no duplication exploit exists. The Industrialist villager trades 6 Iron Dust for 1 emerald at tier 3 (12 uses, 20 XP), the only path by which iron enters the emerald economy. Iron Dust carries the c:dusts/iron tag, so dust from other tech mods works interchangeably in Ala Industrial machines.

Getting Iron Dust

How to get Iron Dust in Minecraft (Ala Industrial)

  1. 1

    Build and power a Macerator

Craft a Macerator in Ala Industrial and supply it with EU energy up to the LV ceiling of 32 EU/t. The maceration recipe runs at 2 EU/t for 150 ticks, totalling 300 EU per operation on Fabric or NeoForge.

  2. 2

Grind iron ore or raw iron into dust

Feed one iron ore block (stone or deepslate) or one raw iron into the Macerator. Each maceration outputs 2 Iron Dust, doubling the metal yield compared to vanilla smelting of a single ore.

  3. 3

Smelt Iron Dust back into ingots

Place Iron Dust in the Electric Furnace (2 EU/t for 100 ticks, 200 EU) or a vanilla furnace or blast furnace (200 ticks, 0.5 XP). Each Iron Dust returns exactly 1 Iron Ingot, completing the ore-doubling loop of 1 ore to 2 ingots.

  4. 4

Trade surplus dust with the Industrialist

Locate an Industrialist villager (POI: Industrial Workbench) and level the trade to tier 3. The Industrialist buys 6 Iron Dust for 1 emerald across 12 uses for 20 XP, the only route by which iron enters the mod's emerald economy.

  5. 5

    Recycle iron plates or ingots

Macerate an Iron Ingot or Iron Plate when dust runs low. Grinding a finished ingot yields only 1 Iron Dust (not 2), so the ingot-dust-ingot loop nets zero and no duplication exploit exists.

Anti-duplication balance

Ala Industrial deliberately returns 1 Iron Dust from a finished Iron Ingot versus 2 from raw ore. The ingot-dust-ingot loop nets zero, so automated recycling cannot multiply iron. The mod behaves identically on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 26.2.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get Iron Dust in Ala Industrial?

Iron Dust is produced by the Macerator in Ala Industrial. Feed one iron ore block or one raw iron into the Macerator to get 2 Iron Dust per operation at a cost of 300 EU (2 EU/t for 150 ticks).

Can you smelt Iron Dust back into Iron Ingot?

Yes. Iron Dust smelts into 1 Iron Ingot via the Electric Furnace at 200 EU (2 EU/t for 100 ticks), or through a vanilla furnace or blast furnace in 200 ticks with 0.5 XP.

How does ore doubling work with Iron Dust?

One iron ore becomes 2 Iron Dust in the Macerator (300 EU), then each Iron Dust smelts into 1 Iron Ingot. The full loop converts 1 ore into 2 Iron Ingot instead of the usual single ingot.

Why does grinding an Iron Ingot give only 1 Iron Dust?

Grinding a finished Iron Ingot in the Macerator yields only 1 Iron Dust, while grinding ore or raw iron yields 2. The ingot-dust-ingot loop nets zero, so the recipe blocks any iron duplication exploit.

Is Iron Dust renewable in Minecraft?

Yes. Iron is renewable through iron golems and villager trading, and Iron Dust is produced by macerating iron ore or raw iron. Because the metal source is renewable, Iron Dust counts as renewable.

Does Iron Dust work on both Fabric and NeoForge?

Yes. Ala Industrial runs on Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition for both Fabric and NeoForge loaders, and Iron Dust behaves identically on each. Iron Dust also carries the c:dusts/iron tag, so dust from other tech mods works interchangeably.
