Raw Iron
Raw Iron drops from mined iron ore and smelts into iron ingots, with Fortune increasing the yield.
Description
Raw Iron becomes an iron ingot when smelted in a furnace or blast furnace. Nine pieces also craft into one Block of Raw Iron for compact storage, and that block can be crafted back into 9 pieces without loss. Players should carry Fortune when mining large iron veins, then use a blast furnace to process the haul twice as fast as a regular furnace.
Mining and smelting guide
How to obtain and process Raw Iron in Minecraft

Break the ore with a stone-tier or better pickaxe without Silk Touch to receive Raw Iron.
-
3
Increase the drop with Fortune
Use a Fortune-enchanted pickaxe when available because Fortune can increase the number of Raw Iron pieces per ore.
-
4
Smelt the Raw Iron
Place Raw Iron and fuel in a furnace or blast furnace to produce one iron ingot from each piece.
Craft 9 Raw Iron into one Block of Raw Iron, then craft the block back into 9 pieces whenever needed.
