Fuel Rod Cladding is the empty casing of a Fuel Rod from the Ala Industrial mod: an iron sleeve on a Shielding Plate base that has everything of the rod except the uranium pellet. The shaped 3×3 recipe yields one cladding from four iron nuggets in the corners, three iron ingots and one Shielding Plate at the centre of the bottom row, while the middle cell stays empty for the fuel to fill later. No uranium is needed at all, so a stock of Fuel Rod Cladding can be prepared long before the first uranium vein. The second source needs no workbench: once a Fuel Rod has given up its 144,000 EU (6 EU per tick over 24,000 ticks), the Reactor Column replaces the burnt-out rod with a Fuel Rod Cladding right in the rack, where the dark casing stays visible among the glowing fuelled rods.

Refuelling is a shapeless recipe: one Fuel Rod Cladding plus one Enriched Uranium (U-235) in any two cells return a fresh Fuel Rod. That single step closes the nuclear loop: the first batch of claddings costs a third of a palladium ingot per sleeve (palladium is mined only in the Nether), and after that the reactor economy asks for uranium alone — a reactor running at the HV ceiling of 512 EU/t burns 256 rods an hour, which without returned claddings would eat roughly 85 palladium ingots every hour. One cladding per rack slot is enough: a 3×3 layer of nine columns needs 36, a packed 3×3×3 room needs 108. Fuel Rod Cladding has no durability, never wears out, stacks to 64 and, unlike a fuelled rod, emits no radiation. The item exists only in Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition on the Fabric and NeoForge loaders, and a spare casing occasionally rolls in the reactor chests of abandoned labs.
