Tempered Iron
Tempered Iron is a 1:1 smelted iron ingot used to craft stronger tools, armor, and a storage block in Ala Industrial.
Description
Gear made from Tempered Iron sits a clear step above vanilla iron on every axis: the tools reach 350 durability, 7.0 mining speed, and 16 enchantability, while the armor gains +13% durability, 1.0 toughness, and 12 enchantability over iron — yet the tools still cannot mine diamond-level blocks, so the progression does not skip past diamond access. A Tempered Iron pickaxe needs three ingots, the chestplate needs eight, and the storage block takes nine, so bulk-smelting iron is the natural workflow. Every tool and armor piece also repairs in an anvil with these same ingots, exactly the way vanilla iron gear repairs with iron.

How to make Tempered Iron in Ala Industrial
-
1
Gather vanilla iron ingots
Smelt raw iron or mine iron ore the usual way to build up a stock of iron ingots, the only input for Tempered Iron.
-
2
Smelt one iron ingot into one Tempered Iron
Place an iron ingot in a vanilla furnace, a blast furnace, or the Ala Industrial electric furnace. Every route converts one iron ingot into one Tempered Iron, so a full stack yields a full stack.
-
3
Pick the fastest route
A blast furnace finishes in 100 ticks, twice as fast as the vanilla furnace's 200 ticks, while the electric furnace spends 200 EU and grants no XP — choose fuel or EU depending on your setup.
-
4
Craft the tempered-iron line
Use the ingots to craft the five tools, the four-piece armor set, and the 9:1 storage block, then repair any worn piece in an anvil with more Tempered Iron.
Tempered Iron stores no EU and has no tier of its own. Gear made from it mines at iron level, so diamond and obsidian blocks still require a diamond-tier tool.

Frequently asked questions
How do you get Tempered Iron in Ala Industrial?
Smelt one vanilla iron ingot in a furnace, blast furnace, or the mod's electric furnace. Every route is strictly 1:1, so a stack of iron yields a stack of Tempered Iron.
Does Tempered Iron store or transmit EU?
No. Tempered Iron is a pure crafting ingredient that stores no EU and has no tier of its own, exactly like a vanilla iron ingot.
What can you craft with Tempered Iron?
It crafts the five tempered-iron tools, a four-piece armor set, and a compact 9:1 storage block, and the same ingots repair those items in an anvil.
Is Tempered Iron better than vanilla iron?
Yes. Tools reach 350 durability and 7.0 mining speed, and armor gains +13% durability and 1.0 toughness over vanilla iron, while still mining at iron level so diamond blocks stay locked.
Which smelting route is fastest for Tempered Iron?
The blast furnace and the electric furnace both finish in 100 ticks, twice as fast as the vanilla furnace's 200 ticks; the blast furnace grants 0.5 XP while the electric furnace grants none.
Is Tempered Iron renewable?
Yes. Iron is renewable through iron golem farming, and smelting needs only a furnace and fuel, so Tempered Iron can be produced indefinitely.
