Glass
Glass is a transparent block smelted from sand, used for windows, greenhouses, and modern builds.
Description
Glass is brittle. Mining it without the Silk Touch enchantment destroys the block entirely, so a Survival player who plans to relocate windows needs a Silk Touch pickaxe ready. Glass does not conduct redstone, never catches fire, and supports no mob spawning, which makes it useful for safe rooms and farm sealing. Six blocks arranged in two horizontal rows produce sixteen glass panes — the slimmer profile favoured by builders for greenhouse walls and decorative leaded windows.

How to make and use Glass in Minecraft
-
1
Gather sand
Dig sand or red sand from beaches, deserts, or riverbeds with any shovel. One sand block becomes one glass block, so collect a full stack for large windows.
-
2
Smelt the sand
Place sand in the top slot of a furnace, blast furnace, or smoker with any fuel. Each sand smelts into one colourless glass block.
-
3
Mine glass with Silk Touch
To move a placed glass block, use a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch. Without Silk Touch the glass shatters and drops nothing.
-
4
Craft panes or stained glass
Arrange six glass in two horizontal rows for sixteen glass panes, or surround one dye with eight glass to make eight stained glass blocks.
Glass is non-flammable and blocks mob spawning, but it has a low blast resistance of 0.3 and is easily destroyed by creeper or TNT explosions.
