Description
Sand generates extensively across the Overworld — entire desert biomes, all beaches, the floors of most oceans, and the surface around most rivers. The texture is a warm pale yellow with fine grain. The defining property is gravity: the block falls if the space directly below it becomes empty, suffocating any entity caught underneath if multiple blocks stack — a hazard well known to anyone who has tunnelled under a desert.
A shovel is the fastest mining tool, but any tool drops the block. The two industrial uses are massive. Smelting one block in any furnace produces glass — the foundation of windows, bottles, and observation rooms. Combined with four gravel and four dye, eight blocks of sand make eight blocks of concrete powder, which solidifies into vibrant concrete the moment it touches water. The block also functions as the famous gravity-trick base for collecting the End dragon egg.
