Empty Chip
The Empty Chip is the blank crafting base that every Ala Industrial machine upgrade chip is built from — it does nothing on its own.
Description
The recipe runs on an ordinary crafting table with a 3×3 grid: six glass blocks fill the top and bottom rows, while two Copper Coils flank a single Electronic Circuit across the middle row. The blank currently crafts into five upgrade chips: the Mute Chip, made by wrapping the Empty Chip in eight wool to fully silence a machine; the Creation, Duplication and Transformation Chips, which pair the blank with a uranium plate and a catalyst (diamond with an echo shard, amethyst, or lapis with redstone); and the Overclocker Chip I, built with gold, an Energy Clot and redstone. Because every functional chip starts from this blank, a fresh Empty Chip is crafted whenever another upgrade is needed. The component stacks to 64 and behaves identically on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition).

How to craft an Empty Chip in Ala Industrial
-
1
Gather the ingredients
Collect six glass blocks, two Copper Coils and one Electronic Circuit before starting the recipe.
-
2
Open a 3×3 crafting grid
Stand at a crafting table and open it — the 2×2 grid in the inventory is too small for the Empty Chip pattern.
-
3
Lay the glass frame
Place one glass block in every cell of the top and bottom rows, six glass blocks in total.
-
4
Fill the middle row
Put a Copper Coil in the left and right cells of the middle row and the Electronic Circuit in the centre.
-
5
Build the blank into a chip
Craft the finished Empty Chip into a functional upgrade chip — the Mute Chip, for example, is the blank wrapped in eight wool.
The Empty Chip is rejected by the machine upgrade slot by design — assemble a functional chip before installing anything.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Empty Chip do in Ala Industrial?
Nothing on its own. The Empty Chip is the blank crafting base for the mod's functional upgrade chips — it stores no energy and only becomes useful once built into a finished chip.
How do you craft the Empty Chip?
On a 3×3 crafting grid, fill the top and bottom rows with six glass blocks, then place two Copper Coils around one Electronic Circuit in the middle row.
Can the Empty Chip be installed in a machine?
No. The upgrade slot rejects the Empty Chip by design — only finished upgrade chips are accepted.
Which chips are crafted from the Empty Chip?
Five: the Mute Chip (eight wool) that fully silences a machine, the Creation, Duplication and Transformation Chips (a uranium plate plus a catalyst), and the Overclocker Chip I (gold, an Energy Clot and redstone).
Is the Empty Chip renewable?
No. The crafting chain depends on mined resources such as the copper in the Copper Coils, so the Empty Chip cannot be produced endlessly.
Does the Empty Chip exist on Bedrock?
No. The Empty Chip is part of Ala Industrial, a Java Edition mod for Minecraft 26.2 that runs on the Fabric and NeoForge loaders.
