Description
Candles are crafted from one piece of string and one honeycomb. Up to four can share a single block, each additional one raising the light level by three: one candle emits level 3, four emit level 12. Sixteen dye variants exist; all four on a block must match in colour.
A candle placed atop a cake lights on right-click and functions as a birthday decoration; right-clicking again extinguishes it. Water and rain put them out but do not break them; they cannot be waterlogged. To relight an extinguished one, use flint and steel or any fire source.
As a decorative alternative to lanterns, they suit interiors where the full brightness of torches or sea lanterns would feel harsh. Bee farms make candle production renewable, since both honeycomb and string — the two ingredients — can be farmed at scale without consuming rare resources.
