Cyan Candle
Cyan Candle is an aqua candle block for ocean-themed builds, stacking four per space and burning at light level 12 (light scale of 0–15).
Description
Up to four identically colored candles share one block space, and a lit cluster burns at light level 3, 6, 9, or 12 as candles are added. Cyan Candles are unlit when placed; flint and steel, a fire charge, or any flaming projectile ignites the wick, and on Bedrock Edition a burning player or mob works too. A waterlogged candle can never be lit, while water — even a water bottle on Java Edition — or one click extinguishes a burning candle. One Cyan Candle also tops an uneaten cake as a candle cake and drops back once the cake is eaten or destroyed. Set all four Cyan Candles on altars, aquarium walkways, and ocean-monument replicas for a steady light level 12 without torches.

Place one String directly above one Honeycomb on the crafting grid; the shaped recipe yields one plain Candle.

Put the plain Candle and one Cyan Dye anywhere on the grid; the shapeless recipe returns one Cyan Candle.

Set the Cyan Candle on a solid block, then click up to three more candles into the same space; only same-color candles share one block.

Use flint and steel, a fire charge, or any flaming projectile on the Cyan Candle; one flame gives light level 3 and four flames reach 12.

Extinguish without breaking
Click the lit candle or touch it with water to snuff the flame; the Cyan Candle stays in place.
A candle flooded with water becomes waterlogged and cannot be lit at all, so keep Cyan Candles above the waterline in aquarium builds.

Frequently asked questions
Are Cyan Candles renewable?
Yes. The Minecraft Wiki lists candles as renewable, and the recipe chain needs only String, Honeycomb, and one Cyan Dye per candle.
Can a Cyan Candle catch fire or burn away?
No. Candles are not flammable and cannot be ignited by lava, so a Cyan Candle never burns up; the flame only emits fire particles.
What tool breaks a Cyan Candle?
Any tool or an empty hand works, because the candle's hardness is just 0.1; no pickaxe is ever required.
Do Cyan Candles disappear when broken?
No. Every candle in the cluster drops as an item when mined, so redecorating never loses a single candle.
