Orange Candle is a dyed candle block that gives light only after a player lights the candle with flint and steel, a fire charge, or a flaming projectile. Crafting takes one plain Candle plus one Orange Dye anywhere on the crafting grid and yields one Orange Candle; the plain Candle itself is crafted from one String placed above one Honeycomb. Up to four identically colored candles fit into a single block space, and a dyed candle keeps its color forever. Orange Candle never generates in the world: ancient cities hold plain and white candles, trial chambers hold plain and red ones, loot chests carry plain, white, red, brown, green, and purple candles, and villagers trade only red and yellow — so crafting is the only way to obtain Orange Candle in survival.

A single lit Orange Candle gives light level 3, and each extra candle in the same block space adds 3 more, up to 12 for four candles. Fire particles rise from every lit candle. Waterlogged candles cannot be lit at all, while water, a wind charge, or a simple interaction extinguishes a flame. One Orange Candle set on an uneaten cake turns the dessert into a candle cake, and the candle drops back as an item when the cake is eaten or destroyed. With a hardness of 0.1, breaking by any tool or bare hand, and stacking to 64, Orange Candle suits shrines, altars, and dinner tables where torches would look clumsy.
