Description

Wind Turbine is the basic LV-tier generator in Ala Industrial that produces EU from the wind instead of fuel or sunlight. It never accepts power — it only makes it — and stores up to 4000 EU in an internal buffer before sending it out on an LV line capped at 32 EU/t. Realistic output ranges from 0 to 8 EU/t and is driven by two things: how high the turbine sits and how bad the weather is. The wind profile peaks in a narrow band just under the cloud deck (y 183–193), where the base output reaches 4 EU/t on a clear day. Rain multiplies that by 1.5 and a thunderstorm by 2, so the same turbine yields 4 EU/t clear, 6 EU/t in rain, and 8 EU/t in a storm — the hard cap. Below sea level it produces nothing, and above y 248 the air is too thin and it stops again.

To run, Wind Turbine needs a Wooden Rotor in its slot, open sky above the block, and clear space around the spinning blades — the block in front, one block on each side, and a three-block pit below. Energy exits only from the back face, so the cable must connect there. The block is crafted at a workbench from copper ingots in the corners, planks top and bottom, copper cable on the sides, and a wooden gear in the centre. A Wind Turbine is the neutral tier-1 form: insert a solar or lunar evolution chip and let it run, and after about 28 real minutes it becomes a Sky Mill (stronger at altitude) or a Tempest Mill (stronger in storms), keeping its stored EU. The rotor itself wears out as it generates — about 480000 EU per rotor — and breaks when spent.

How to set up a Wind Turbine in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the Wind Turbine

At a workbench, place copper ingots in the four corners, planks across the top and bottom, copper cable on the left and right, and a wooden gear in the centre.

  2. 2

    Build a tower to y 183–193

Place the turbine in the narrow band just under the cloud deck, where the base output peaks at 4 EU/t on a clear day.

  3. 3

    Insert a Wooden Rotor

Open the turbine and put a Wooden Rotor in the centre slot — without a rotor there is no generation at all.

  4. 4

    Clear the blade space

Keep the block in front, one block on each side, and the three blocks below empty so the blades can spin, and leave open sky above.

  5. 5

Connect a cable to the back

Run an LV cable from the turbine's back face — the only side that outputs energy — into a Battery Box or machine.

Storms boost output

Rain multiplies the Wind Turbine's output by 1.5 and a thunderstorm by 2, up to the 8 EU/t cap, so a storm at the right altitude gives the most EU per tick.

Frequently asked questions

How much EU does a Wind Turbine generate per tick?

Wind Turbine generates 0–8 EU/t. The base reaches 4 EU/t in the narrow band under the clouds at y 183–193, rain multiplies that by 1.5, and a thunderstorm by 2, up to the 8 EU/t cap.

Does a Wind Turbine need fuel?

No. Wind Turbine runs on wind alone — it only needs a Wooden Rotor in its slot, open sky above, and clear space around the blades. It never accepts external power.

Where should I place a Wind Turbine for the most power?

Build it at y 183–193, just under the cloud deck, where the base output peaks at 4 EU/t. Below sea level it produces nothing, and above y 248 the air is too thin.

Which side of a Wind Turbine outputs energy?

Energy comes out only from the back face — the side opposite the way the turbine faces. Connect an LV cable there; the other sides output nothing.

Can a Wind Turbine evolve into a stronger block?

Yes. Insert a solar or lunar evolution chip and let the turbine run for about 28 real minutes to get a Sky Mill (stronger at altitude) or a Tempest Mill (stronger in storms), keeping its stored EU.

Does the Wind Turbine's rotor wear out?

Yes. The Wooden Rotor wears down only while the turbine generates, delivering about 480000 EU over its full durability before it breaks and needs replacing.
