Description

Insulated Copper Cable is the rubber-sheathed LV wire in Ala Industrial for Minecraft 26.2, built to carry the mod's EU (Energy Units) across long distances at half the loss of bare copper. The cable keeps copper's 12 EU/tick throughput and 32 EU packet cap, but the rubber sheath cuts attenuation from 0.02 down to 0.01 per block, and every positive packet still delivers at least 1 EU, so even a thousand-block line never silently blocks a storage top-up. Players unlock Insulated Copper Cable through the oil, sulfur and Vulcanizer chain that produces vulcanized rubber, the material wrapped around each copper core.

The rubber sheath also makes Insulated Copper Cable safe to touch: energized segments deal zero contact damage, unlike bare LV wire that shocks for 2 half-hearts on contact. Wrapping six bare copper cables with three rubber on a crafting table yields six insulated cables, costing half a rubber per wire, and the block breaks fastest with shears. Insulated Copper Cable becomes the main long-run LV conductor once a base outgrows short bare-copper links, and the reduced 0.01 rate holds only inside a fully insulated copper network, since one insulated segment cannot upgrade a bare line.

How to craft and use Insulated Copper Cable in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Produce vulcanized rubber

Smelt or vulcanize rubber through the oil, sulfur and Vulcanizer chain, because Insulated Copper Cable needs rubber for its sheath.

  2. 2

    Craft bare copper cables

Make plain Copper Cable first, the base wire that already carries 12 EU/tick and a 32 EU packet cap.

  3. 3

    Wrap six cables with rubber

Place six Copper Cables and three Rubber on a crafting table to produce six Insulated Copper Cables, at half a rubber per wire.

  4. 4

    Lay a fully insulated line

Run only Insulated Copper Cable along the route, since mixing in one bare segment reverts the whole line to the higher 0.02 loss.

  5. 5

    Touch the wire safely

Walk up to the energized cable without taking contact damage, unlike bare LV wire that shocks for 2 half-hearts.

Throughput unchanged

Insulated Copper Cable keeps the same 12 EU/tick throughput as bare copper, because rubber changes loss and safety, not capacity.

Frequently asked questions

What does Insulated Copper Cable do in Ala Industrial?

Insulated Copper Cable carries the mod's EU across LV networks at half the per-block loss of bare copper, and the rubber sheath stops contact shock entirely.

How do you craft Insulated Copper Cable?

Combine six Copper Cables with three Rubber on a crafting table to get six Insulated Copper Cables, at a cost of half a rubber per wire.

How much EU can Insulated Copper Cable carry?

Insulated Copper Cable carries 12 EU/tick with a 32 EU packet cap, the LV tier ceiling. Rubber halves the loss but does not raise throughput.

Does Insulated Copper Cable shock you on contact?

No. The rubber sheath gives complete contact-shock protection at any flow, unlike bare copper LV wire that deals 2 half-hearts of damage.

Can one insulated segment fix a bare copper line?

No. The reduced 0.01 loss rate applies only to a fully insulated copper network, so one insulated segment cannot improve a bare line.
