Description

Reactor Airlock Door is the two-block-tall sealed entrance of a reactor room in the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition. The door opens only on a rising redstone pulse — a button, a pressure plate or a lever — and never by hand: right-clicking the leaf does nothing. One pulse holds the doorway open for exactly 40 ticks (2 seconds), after which the airlock shuts itself; holding a lever on does not keep Reactor Airlock Door open, because the falling edge is ignored on purpose and only a fresh pulse restarts the timer. A player or mob standing in the gap is never crushed: closing is deferred and rechecked every 10 ticks until the doorway is clear. The leaf does not swing: the panel sinks into the floor over 8 ticks (0.4 seconds), a purely visual trip, since the doorway becomes passable the instant the panel starts moving.

Crafting one door takes a full 3×3 grid: two Shielding Plates and two Reinforced Shielding Plates around a vanilla Iron Door, one Reactor Glass as the upper porthole, two Insulated Copper Cables and one Control Rod Drive — about nine shielding plates, or three palladium ingots, per airlock. Inside a shell the door must form a real doorway: two stacked door cells with the lower half at the interior floor level, otherwise the Reactor Controller reports a missing doorway and the room never forms. Reactor Airlock Door consumes no EU at all — redstone alone drives the mechanism — and works on both Fabric and NeoForge. While the doorway is open, radiation leaks out honestly and the door cannot be clicked or mined, so pulse the airlock only to pass through. For a sealed pulse from inside, the matching Reactor Button (a 20-tick press) was built alongside the door.

Guide

How to install and use a Reactor Airlock Door in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Craft the door

Combine two Shielding Plates, one Reactor Glass, two Insulated Copper Cables, one vanilla Iron Door, two Reinforced Shielding Plates and one Control Rod Drive on a full 3×3 crafting grid; one craft yields one door.

  2. 2

Cut the doorway into the shell

Place Reactor Airlock Door in the reactor room's wall so the two stacked halves stand upright with the lower half exactly at the interior floor level.

  3. 3

Wire a pulse source on each side

Put any button, pressure plate or lever outside; inside a sealed room use the Reactor Button, whose 20-tick press fits inside the 40-tick open window.

  4. 4

    Pass on a pulse

Send one rising redstone edge: the doorway stays open for 40 ticks (2 seconds), and a fresh pulse while open restarts the timer.

  5. 5

Recover the door with a pickaxe

Mine either half with a pickaxe — the tool is required for drops — and one whole door item falls while the other half disappears.

Open means unsealed

While Reactor Airlock Door is open the doorway has no collision at all: radiation leaks outward, and the door can be neither clicked nor mined until the leaf closes again. The door always places itself shut, even next to a live signal.

Frequently asked questions

Why does right-clicking the Reactor Airlock Door do nothing?

Reactor Airlock Door cannot be opened by hand at all. Only a rising redstone pulse — from a button, a pressure plate or a lever — opens the airlock, and right-clicking is deliberately ignored.

Can a lever hold the Reactor Airlock Door open?

No. The door closes on its own timer after 40 ticks (2 seconds) even with a lever held on, because the falling edge is ignored; only a fresh pulse restarts the open window.

Can the Reactor Airlock Door crush a player?

Never. While a player or mob stands in the doorway, closing is deferred and rechecked every 10 ticks until the gap is clear, so the leaf cannot shut through anyone.

Does the Reactor Airlock Door need EU power?

No. The airlock runs on redstone alone and carries a zero EU buffer; the drive inside was already paid for at the crafting table.

The controller says there is no doorway — what is wrong?

A door lying flat in the floor or ceiling does not count. The shell needs two stacked door cells with the lower half at the interior floor level; the Reactor Controller accepts at least one such doorway.

Is the door required for a reactor room?

No. The shell only has to be sealed: walling yourself in and mining back out is a legitimate way to run a reactor, and Reactor Airlock Door is the sanctioned entrance that never dismantles the wall.
