Sawmill
Sawmill is an Ala Industrial machine that saws one log into 6 planks, 18 sticks, 18 slabs, or 6 stairs — one cut costs 160 EU.
Description
The Sawmill runs on EU: an internal energy buffer of 800 EU, a maximum input of 32 EU/t (LV tier, low voltage), and a draw of 2 EU/t while sawing. One cut takes about 80 ticks (~4 seconds) and costs 160 EU, the cheapest machine operation in Ala Industrial — smelting in an electric furnace costs 200 EU. A full Battery Box (20,000 EU) covers 125 cuts. The Sawmill is crafted at a workbench from three iron ingots across the top as saw blades, an electronic circuit in the center, a silver ingot below it, and planks as the wooden body. It has one input and one output slot with no auto-output; energy enters through the five working faces, while the front face is inert — cables do not connect there and hoppers do not work through it. Breaking the Sawmill drops it without its stored charge.

How to use the Sawmill in Ala Industrial
-
1
Craft the Sawmill
Arrange three iron ingots across the top row of a workbench as saw blades, place an electronic circuit in the center and a silver ingot below it, and fill the remaining cells with any planks for the wooden body.
-
2
Connect LV power
Run a cable from a generator to any working face of the Sawmill. The machine accepts up to 32 EU/t (LV, low voltage) and keeps an internal buffer of 800 EU; the front face is inert, so cables and hoppers do not connect there.
-
3
Pick a cutting mode
Open the GUI and click one of the four mode buttons: planks, sticks, slabs, or stairs. Only the active mode works, and switching modes resets the current cut.
-
4
Feed logs and collect the output
Drop any log, stem, or bamboo block into the input slot and wait about 4 seconds (80 ticks) for one cut at 160 EU. Collect planks, sticks, slabs, or stairs from the output slot — there is no auto-output.
The Sawmill does not keep its stored EU when broken, so cut the power before moving it. Sticks, slabs, and stairs are not accepted as input, so wood cannot be looped back.

Frequently asked questions
How many planks does the Sawmill give per log?
Six planks — 1.5 times the vanilla crafting yield of four. The same log can instead give 18 sticks, 18 slabs, or 6 stairs, depending on the selected mode.
How do you craft the Sawmill in Ala Industrial?
Place three iron ingots across the top row of a workbench, an electronic circuit in the center, a silver ingot in the cell below it, and fill the remaining cells with any planks.
How much energy does the Sawmill use?
It draws 2 EU/t while sawing, so one cut costs 160 EU and takes about 4 seconds (80 ticks). The internal buffer holds 800 EU and the machine accepts at most 32 EU/t, so any LV source such as a generator powers it.
Does the Sawmill work with bamboo?
Yes, at half yield: one bamboo block gives 3 bamboo planks, 9 sticks, 9 slabs, or 3 stairs, mirroring the reduced vanilla yield of bamboo.
Does the Sawmill keep its EU charge when broken?
No. Breaking the Sawmill — any pickaxe works — drops the block with an empty buffer, so the stored EU is lost.
Is the Sawmill renewable?
No. The craft requires a silver ingot, and silver ore only appears in world generation — silver cannot be farmed.
