Description
Dark Oak Planks come from the imposing, broad-canopied trees of the dark forest biome — also known as roofed forest. The trunks grow up to seven blocks tall and the leaves form a thick ceiling that blocks sunlight, which is why the inside of these forests are perpetually dim and full of hostile mob spawns. The wood matches the mood: a deep, almost-black brown that's the darkest natural plank available without dyes.
Unlike most species, dark oak only grows from a 2×2 sapling cluster — a single sapling will not sprout. One mature tree easily yields more than thirty logs, which compress to over a hundred and twenty Dark Oak Planks via the standard one-log-to-four-planks recipe. The colour suits manor houses, abandoned mineshaft railings, gothic chapels, and any structure that should feel old. The full crafting roster — doors, fences, signs, boats, slabs, stairs, ladders, chests — is available, all in the same dramatic tone.
