Description

Dark Oak Pressure Plate is a non-solid redstone component that produces a signal while an entity stands on top of it. Two Dark Oak Planks placed side by side in the crafting grid make one Dark Oak Pressure Plate; the plate is renewable (obtainable endlessly by planting trees) and stacks to 64. Dark Oak Pressure Plate exists in Java Edition since 1.13 and in Bedrock Edition since 1.4.0.

Dark Oak Pressure Plate reacts to most entities, including players, mobs, dropped items, arrows, and experience orbs, and always emits signal strength 15. Dark Oak Pressure Plate is 0.0625 blocks tall (1/16 of a block) when inactive and 0.03125 blocks tall (1/32) when pressed, so a player on top actually stands on the block beneath. Mobs cannot spawn on Dark Oak Pressure Plate, and an entity moving fast enough can phase through it without activating it. Dark Oak Pressure Plate suits automatic door openers, item detectors, and trap triggers.

Guide

How to use a Dark Oak Pressure Plate in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the plate

Two Dark Oak Planks placed side by side in the crafting grid make one Dark Oak Pressure Plate.

  2. 2

    Place it on a surface

Dark Oak Pressure Plate goes on top of Stone, Glass, Ice, or a Dark Oak Fence, but a plate cannot attach to the side or bottom of a block.

  3. 3

    Wire the circuit

Dark Oak Pressure Plate gives weak power to its direct neighbors and strong power to the block below it, so the circuit connects to those blocks.

  4. 4

    Trigger the signal

A player, mob, or dropped item standing on Dark Oak Pressure Plate presses it and starts a signal of strength 15.

  5. 5

    Collect the plate

An axe breaks Dark Oak Pressure Plate fastest, though any tool or bare hands also work, and the plate drops itself.

Plate on a fence

Dark Oak Pressure Plate on top of a Dark Oak Fence detects entities without stopping them, because entities can pass through the plate.

How long does Dark Oak Pressure Plate stay powered after an entity leaves?

Dark Oak Pressure Plate rechecks for entities every 20 game ticks (1 second). Dark Oak Pressure Plate pops back up once a check finds no entities.
