Players, villagers, piglins, and copper golems open Dark Oak Door by hand, as do vindicators in Java Edition, while a redstone signal opens and closes it automatically, and both the top and bottom halves respond to the signal.

The Use Item/Place Block control toggles Dark Oak Door. A redstone signal sent to a block directly beside the door opens it without a player.

Break and reuse it
An axe breaks Dark Oak Door fastest, and the door drops itself, so it can be placed again somewhere else.
A Dark Oak Door placed sideways allows passage while closed and blocks passage while open. Zombies and vindicators attempt to break only a closed door, even when the sideways placement lets players pass through that closed door.
