Dark Oak Log
Dark Oak Log carries the darkest natural bark in Minecraft — extracted only from massive trees in the dark forest biome.

Description
Dark Oak Log generates exclusively in the dark forest biome (also called roofed forest), where dense canopies block sunlight and force hostile mobs to spawn even at midday. The bark is the deepest natural brown in the game, almost black, while the cross-section underneath shows a slightly warmer tone — a subtle but visible difference when the bark is stripped.
Unlike most species, dark oak only sprouts from a 2×2 sapling cluster. A single sapling refuses to grow. Once mature, the tree forms a thick trunk surrounded by horizontal branches that mushroom outward into a flat canopy, distinct from any other species' silhouette. A single tree easily yields thirty or more logs. The block strips with an axe, smelts to charcoal in any furnace, and produces four dark oak planks per unit on the crafting grid.
