Generator
The Generator is IndustrialCraft 2's basic machine that burns furnace fuel to make EU for your early power grid.

How to use the Generator in IndustrialCraft 2
-
1
Craft the Generator
Stack a Furnace on top, an RE Battery in the middle and a Machine Block at the bottom of the center column in a crafting table.
-
2
Place it and add fuel
Set the Generator down and put coal, charcoal or wooden planks into its fuel slot to start producing EU.
-
3
Connect cables or batteries
Run insulated copper cable from the Generator to a machine, or drop an RE Battery into the charge slot to fill it.
-
4
Scale up your grid
Add more Generators or upgrade to solar, water and wind power once your EU demand grows beyond 10 EU/t.
The Generator only burns fuel when it can store or output EU, so it pauses automatically once its 10,000 EU buffer is full.

Frequently asked questions
How do you craft the Generator in IndustrialCraft 2?
Place a Furnace, an RE Battery and a Machine Block in the center column of a crafting table, top to bottom, to make one Generator.
How much energy does the Generator produce?
The Generator outputs 10 EU/t at low voltage and holds up to 10,000 EU internally.
What fuel does the Generator use?
It accepts any standard furnace fuel — coal, charcoal, wooden planks and sticks. Coal or charcoal each give 4,000 EU.
Does the Generator waste fuel when idle?
No. It only consumes fuel when it has room to store EU or a machine to power, so a full buffer pauses combustion.
Can the Generator charge RE Batteries?
Yes. Put an RE Battery in the charging slot and the Generator will fill it while it has stored energy.
