Description

Blank is an internal placeholder item from Industrial Craft 2 Experimental, exposed in MC 1.7.10, 1.10.2 and 1.12.2 builds of the mod. Unlike a Macerator, Generator or other functional IC2 machine, Blank carries no EU capacity, no GUI and no recipe inputs. It exists mainly because Industrial Craft 2 uses a shared item registry, and Blank acts as the default empty state for slots, upgrade variants or block models that have not been initialized. Players usually meet Blank only in NEI or JEI item lists, in the creative inventory of a modpack, or in debug menus. In normal survival progression on an IC2 Experimental world Blank is never required: the rubber tree, Tin Cable and LV Macerator path moves forward without ever crafting it. Treat Blank as a harmless catalog entry rather than a missing feature, and continue building your IC2 power network around real machines such as the Generator, Batbox and Macerator.

How to identify Blank in IC2 Experimental

    Open NEI or JEI

    Press the NEI or JEI search field and type `blank`. The Blank entry appears under the Industrial Craft 2 mod section.

    Inspect the tooltip

    Hover over the item: Blank shows no EU capacity, no tier, and no usage recipes, which is the signature of a placeholder.

    Try the creative tab

    In creative mode, scroll the IC2 tab. Blank sits among unfinished or internal variants and has the default texture.

    Skip it in survival

    Continue your normal IC2 progression — rubber tree, Tin Cable, Generator and LV Macerator — without trying to craft or place Blank.

Why it shows up

Blank exists so the IC2 item registry always has a safe default. It is not a bug and does not indicate a broken modpack.
