Description

The BatBox is the entry-level EU storage block of Industrial Craft 2: EU (Energy Unit) is the mod's electrical currency, and the BatBox accepts, holds, and releases it in amounts up to 40,000 EU at a rate of at most 32 EU per tick (one tick equals 1/20 of a second). The 32-EU-per-tick rate defines power tier 1, the level of starter generators and basic machines. The capacity even beats the three RE-Batteries that the crafting recipe uses, since together they hold only 30,000 EU. When placed, the BatBox aims the output face — the face marked with a dot — at the player, and every other face works as an input for cables or machines.

The BatBox GUI doubles as a charging station: the top slot charges batteries and tools from the stored EU, the bottom slot drains charged items back into the BatBox, and four armor slots refill worn gear without undressing. A redstone button cycles output conditions such as “do not output energy” or “emit when full”. Two recipes consume the BatBox — the Chargepad, which powers up players walking across it, and the Electric Jetpack. A BatBox removed with a wrench on the output face keeps 80% of the stored EU, while feeding any face more than 32 EU per tick risks an explosion, so a transformer belongs in front of higher-tier packets. Once 40,000 EU stops being enough, the tier 2 CESU takes over with 300,000 EU at 128 EU per tick.

How to use the BatBox in Industrial Craft 2

    Place the BatBox

    Set the BatBox where cables can reach it; the dotted output face points at the player during placement, and the remaining faces accept input.

    Wire the inputs

    Run tin or copper cable from a generator to any non-output face of the BatBox and watch the EU meter start filling.

    Charge and drain items

    Open the BatBox GUI: the top slot charges batteries and tools from storage, while the bottom slot empties charged items into the BatBox.

    Recharge worn armor

    Leave four armor pieces visible in the GUI armor slots; the BatBox refills each piece from stored EU while the armor stays equipped.

    Pick a redstone mode

    Cycle the redstone button to conditions such as “emit when full” so the BatBox releases power only on chosen terms.

Energy tip

A BatBox unhooked with a wrench on the output face keeps 80% of the stored EU. Any input fed more than 32 EU per tick can blow the BatBox up — a transformer steps higher tiers down to a safe packet size.
