Description

Gravel generates throughout the Overworld in mountain slopes, riverbeds, ocean floors, and pockets within most cave systems. The texture is a mottled mid-grey, the colour of crushed stone fragments, and the block shares the gravity behaviour of sand: it falls when its support is removed, and stacks of it can suffocate any entity caught beneath.

A shovel is the fastest mining tool. Each broken block has roughly a one-in-ten chance of dropping a flint shard instead of the gravel itself, and the chance increases sharply with the Fortune enchantment, reaching guaranteed flint with Fortune III. Flint is required for arrows, fire-and-steel, and flint-and-steel-based recipes — making gravel an essential midgame resource. The block also feeds into concrete powder recipes (one gravel per four sand for grey variants) and forms the base of garden paths, road textures, and quarry-themed builds.
