Basalt
Basalt is renewable Nether stone for volcanic pillars, black-gray roads, blast-resistant walls, and bass drum note blocks.
Description
Basalt works best as a volcanic building block for roads, fortress pillars, charred supports, and black-gray gradients with Blackstone, Deepslate, Nether Bricks, and Smooth Basalt. Basalt can be polished in a stonecutter or crafting grid, and Basalt can be smelted into Smooth Basalt for a softer geode-style surface. Basalt also plays a bass drum sound under a note block, which gives redstone builders one more reason to keep a renewable Basalt generator near large projects.
Minecraft Guide
How to get and use Basalt in Minecraft
-
1
Find natural Basalt
Search soul sand valleys, basalt deltas, or bastion remnants in the Nether; Basalt appears as pillars and rough dark terrain.
-
2
Mine Basalt safely
Use any pickaxe to collect Basalt, and bring fire resistance or blocks because basalt deltas often mix cliffs, lava pockets, and magma cubes.
-
3
Build a generator
Place blue ice beside flowing lava with soul soil underneath the lava path; the lava creates new Basalt where the conditions meet.
-
4
Choose the finish
Craft or stonecut Basalt into Polished Basalt for cleaner columns, or smelt Basalt into Smooth Basalt for a softer geode-like block.
