Description

Coarse Dirt is crafted by combining two dirt blocks and two gravel blocks in a 2×2 grid, yielding four output blocks — a one-to-one combined ratio that turns equal stockpiles of both materials into a useful third material. The texture sits between regular dirt and gravel: brown with scattered grey speckles suggesting incompletely-mixed soil and stone fragments.

The most important property is that grass cannot spread onto this surface — placing a coarse block in a path through a meadow creates a permanent gap that the surrounding green will never fill in, ideal for forest trails, garden paths, and the floors of taiga forests where the natural surface should look like trampled compacted soil rather than vibrant grass. A hoe converts the block back to plain dirt, allowing players to convert the path into farmland or grass-friendly soil if they change their mind. Generation also happens naturally in mega taiga and old-growth forest biomes, providing free supply for builds set in those biomes.
