Trapped Chest
Trapped Chest looks like storage but emits redstone power while a player has it open.
Description
When a player opens it, the block emits redstone power proportional to the number of viewers, up to signal strength fifteen. That signal can trigger lamps, pistons, droppers, TNT traps, alarm bells, or hidden doors. Because the inventory behaviour is otherwise normal, it fits naturally into bases as both utility and misdirection. Builders also use it in puzzle rooms where opening the correct container changes the surrounding mechanism.

How to use a Trapped Chest in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the trapped chest
Combine one chest with one tripwire hook in the crafting grid to get a single trapped chest.
-
2
Place it where you need detection
Set the chest down on a solid block; the red latch marks it as the redstone-aware version.
-
3
Wire the redstone output
Run redstone dust, a comparator, or a repeater from the block to the device you want to trigger.
-
4
Connect a trap or alarm
Link the line to TNT, a dropper, a piston door, a note block, or a redstone lamp.
-
5
Test by opening it
Open the chest yourself; the signal stays on while at least one player is viewing the inventory.
Two trapped chests placed side by side form a large double chest, but a trapped chest will never merge with a normal chest.
