Description
Tripwire requires two Tripwire Hooks placed facing each other with string connecting them horizontally. The hooks emit a signal to adjacent blocks the moment an entity walks, rides, or swims through the invisible line. The signal stays active as long as the entity remains on it, then fires a second time when the entity leaves — making it useful for both entry detection and exit confirmation.
Players use it for automatic doors, hidden traps, mob farms with timed dispensers, and adventure map puzzles. Unlike pressure plates, the wire detects entities at standing height rather than just floor contact, so it also catches mobs flying or moving through elevated sections. Shears remove the string silently without triggering it, while breaking a hook or walking through it normally activates the connected redstone. Paired with dispensers or TNT in tight corridors, hidden wires form effective mob control and defensive perimeters.
