Description

Oak Log is the universal starter wood — it generates in plains, forest, swamp, meadow, and a dozen other Overworld biomes. The bark is medium brown with a slightly lighter cross-section, and oak trees themselves come in two shapes: the small four-block trunk every player chops as their first task, and the rare large branching variant that takes a 1×1 sapling but grows with multiple twisting limbs.

The block has multiple roles. Right-clicking with an axe strips the bark off, producing stripped oak log — a decorative block with no bark texture, useful for trim and posts. Smelting one log in a furnace yields one charcoal, a renewable substitute for coal. Placing four logs in a 2×2 grid produces oak wood, a fully-bark-on-all-sides block. And of course, the standard recipe: one log on the crafting grid yields four oak planks, the gateway to the entire wooden tool, weapon, and building chain.
