Description

Stripped Oak Log is produced by using any axe on a regular Oak Log — the bark layer drops away and a clean wood-ring texture replaces the grainy bark on the sides. The stripping action is one-way: once stripped, a Stripped Oak Log cannot be returned to its original Oak Log form. Stripped Oak Log has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 2 (how well blocks resist creeper and TNT damage), matching a normal oak log. An axe is the fastest harvesting tool, though hand-breaking also works. Stripped Oak Log also generates naturally in plains villages and as ship masts inside shipwrecks (a Bedrock Edition feature), added to Java Edition in 1.13 and to Bedrock in 1.4.0.

Stripped Oak Log is the go-to choice when a builder wants a smooth, light-toned wood without the dark bark border that normal logs show on the sides. One Stripped Oak Log yields four Oak Planks on a crafting table, smelts 1.5 items as furnace fuel, and can be crafted into Stripped Oak Wood, Oak Hanging Signs, and the Oak Shelf — a set of clean-line decorative options for modern cabins and furniture. Stripped Oak Log is renewable, since players can grow oak trees endlessly and strip every log. Lava and open flame ignite wood, so Stripped Oak Log belongs away from nether builds and open flame.

Guide

How to get and use Stripped Oak Log in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Find an Oak Log

Chop down any oak tree in forests, plains, or swamps to collect a regular Oak Log.

  2. 2

    Equip any axe

Hold a wooden, stone, iron, golden, or diamond axe — every tier removes the bark.

  3. 3

Right-click the log with the axe

Use the axe on the placed Oak Log; the bark falls away instantly and the block becomes a Stripped Oak Log.

  4. 4

    Build with the clean surface

Place Stripped Oak Log as pillars, corner posts, or furniture where a smooth, bark-free wood texture is wanted.

One-way action

Stripping is permanent — a Stripped Oak Log cannot be turned back into a regular Oak Log, so keep a few unstripped logs if the bark texture is still needed.
