Description

The Wrench is an Industrial Craft 2 (IC2) tool used to rotate and dismantle IC2 machines in Minecraft 1.7.10. Right-clicking an IC2 machine with the Wrench rotates its front face to the side the player is looking at, which lets builders align Generators, Macerators, and Electric Furnaces toward power cables or item pipes. Sneaking and right-clicking the same machine attempts a dismantle: the standard Wrench has a 20% chance to drop the machine intact and an 80% chance to drop only a Machine Block plus the machine's internal components. The Wrench is crafted from three Bronze Ingots arranged in the canonical IC2 wrench T-shape on a crafting table, making Bronze one of the first metallurgy goals in any IC2 playthrough. The tool has finite durability and loses a point of damage on every successful rotate or dismantle, so it can be repaired on a vanilla anvil with Refined Iron or additional Bronze, depending on the IC2 version installed. The IC2 Wrench only works on IC2 blocks: it does not rotate vanilla pistons, hoppers, or blocks from other tech mods. For lossless dismantling on every attempt, players generally upgrade to the Electric Wrench, which consumes EU instead of risking a 20% chance.

Guide

How to craft and use the Wrench in Minecraft IC2

  1. 1

    Smelt Bronze Ingots

Alloy 3 Copper Ingots with 1 Tin Ingot per Bronze Ingot, or smelt Bronze Dust from an IC2 macerator mix; you need three Bronze Ingots total.

  2. 2

    Craft the Wrench

On a vanilla crafting table, place Bronze Ingots in the canonical IC2 T-shape (two top corners, one center, one bottom-center) to produce one Wrench.

  3. 3

    Rotate an IC2 machine

Hold the Wrench and right-click a Generator, Macerator, or Electric Furnace; the front face snaps to the side you are looking at.

  4. 4

    Dismantle an IC2 machine

Sneak and right-click the same machine; there is a 20% chance the machine drops intact and an 80% chance only the Machine Block and internal parts drop.

  5. 5

    Repair on an anvil

When the Wrench durability bar turns red, combine it on a vanilla anvil with Refined Iron or Bronze depending on your IC2 build to restore charges.

Tip

Switch to the Electric Wrench in lossless mode for a guaranteed 100% intact dismantle; the standard Wrench keeps its 20% chance even after repair.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft the IC2 Wrench?

Place three Bronze Ingots on a crafting table in the IC2 wrench T-shape: two ingots in the top corners, one in the center, and one in the bottom-center slot.

What is the dismantle chance of the standard Wrench?

A regular IC2 Wrench has a 20% chance to drop the machine intact when you sneak right-click it, and an 80% chance to drop only a Machine Block plus internal components.

Does the IC2 Wrench work on vanilla blocks?

No. The Wrench only rotates and dismantles IC2 machines such as Generators, Macerators, and Electric Furnaces; it does not affect vanilla pistons, hoppers, or blocks from other tech mods.

How do you repair the Wrench?

Combine the damaged Wrench on a vanilla anvil with Refined Iron or Bronze, depending on your IC2 version, to restore its durability bar.

How is the Electric Wrench different from the Wrench?

The Electric Wrench consumes EU and can be set to lossless mode for a guaranteed 100% intact dismantle, while the standard Wrench always keeps the 20% chance.
