Description

UU-Matter is the synthetic end-game liquid of IndustrialCraft 2, produced by the Mass Fabricator machine from electrical energy (EU) instead of being mined or crafted on a grid. Roughly 1,000,000 EU generate 1 mB of UU-Matter, and feeding Scrap into the Mass Fabricator cuts that EU cost by about five times. UU-Matter only exists in Java Edition with the IndustrialCraft 2 mod installed, and the liquid is stored in tanks, Fluid Pipes, or Universal Fluid Cells for later use.

The single practical purpose of UU-Matter is fuelling the Replicator, a machine that reads a pattern stored on a Pattern Storage and copies the matching item at the cost of UU-Matter plus EU. Because EU can be generated infinitely from solar panels, nuclear reactors, or watermills, UU-Matter is a renewable resource and a common end-game shortcut for duplicating hard-to-find ores, machine casings, or iridium. Players typically chain a Scrap-fed Mass Fabricator, a tank of UU-Matter, and a Replicator wired to a Pattern Storage to factory-print any item the mod has scanned.

IndustrialCraft 2 Guide

How to produce and use UU-Matter in IndustrialCraft 2

  1. 1

    Build a Mass Fabricator

Craft the Mass Fabricator from IndustrialCraft 2 machine parts and place it connected to a power grid that can deliver high EU/t, because generating UU-Matter is extremely energy-hungry.

  2. 2

Feed Scrap to cut EU cost

Pipe Scrap from a Recycler into the Mass Fabricator's input slot to reduce the EU cost per mB of UU-Matter roughly five times, the single biggest efficiency gain in the chain.

  3. 3

Store the liquid in a tank

Connect a tank, Fluid Pipe, or Universal Fluid Cell to the Mass Fabricator output so the produced UU-Matter is buffered, because the Replicator consumes it on demand.

  4. 4

Wire a Replicator with Pattern Storage

Place a Replicator next to a Pattern Storage that holds scanned item patterns, power the Replicator with EU, and pipe UU-Matter into its input.

  5. 5

    Select a pattern and fabricate

Choose the desired pattern in the Replicator UI; the machine burns UU-Matter plus EU and outputs the copied item, letting you factory-print rare materials.

Java Edition only

UU-Matter exists only with the IndustrialCraft 2 mod on Java Edition; there is no vanilla or Bedrock Edition equivalent, and numbers like the ~1,000,000 EU per mB figure are specific to IndustrialCraft 2.

Frequently asked questions

How is UU-Matter produced in IndustrialCraft 2?

UU-Matter is produced by the Mass Fabricator machine, which consumes electrical energy (EU) to brew the liquid. Feeding Scrap into the Mass Fabricator reduces the EU cost per mB roughly five times.

Is UU-Matter renewable?

Yes. UU-Matter is a renewable resource, because the EU that powers the Mass Fabricator can be generated infinitely from solar panels, nuclear reactors, or watermills.

What is UU-Matter used for?

UU-Matter fuels the Replicator machine, which reads a pattern stored on a Pattern Storage and copies the matching item at the cost of UU-Matter plus EU.

Does UU-Matter exist in vanilla Minecraft or Bedrock Edition?

No. UU-Matter is specific to the IndustrialCraft 2 mod on Java Edition; vanilla Minecraft and Bedrock Edition have no equivalent liquid.

Can you craft UU-Matter on a crafting table?

No. UU-Matter is a liquid produced only by the Mass Fabricator machine; it cannot be crafted on a 3x3 grid or obtained through normal crafting recipes.
