Description

Solar Helmet is a wearable head-slot item from Industrial Craft 2 Experimental that generates a small amount of EU from direct sunlight while equipped. When the player wears Solar Helmet on the helmet slot, the embedded Solar Panel produces roughly 1 EU/t under an open sky and routes that energy into the player's electric armor or into an Energy Pack worn on the chest. The Industrial Craft 2 team designed Solar Helmet as a passive trickle charger for late-game armor such as Nano Suit and Quantum Suit, not as a primary power source. Solar Helmet requires an open sky above the player, so output stops at night, during rain, indoors, and underground. By itself Solar Helmet provides no armor value; its only purpose is in-field EU generation while the player explores or builds during the day. Crafting Solar Helmet on a Crafting Table combines a Solar Panel placed above a standard helmet base, and the item works on Minecraft 1.7.10, 1.10.2, and 1.12.2 versions of IC2 Experimental. Pair Solar Helmet with a Batpack on the chest if your current IC2 build requires an explicit storage target for the generated EU.

Guide

How to craft and wear Solar Helmet in IC2 Experimental

  1. 1

    Prepare materials

Craft one Solar Panel and one base helmet (leather or iron helmet, depending on your IC2 Experimental version).

  2. 2

    Combine on a Crafting Table

Place the Solar Panel in the top center slot and the helmet directly below it on a standard Crafting Table to produce Solar Helmet.

  3. 3

    Equip in the head slot

Move Solar Helmet into the helmet armor slot in your inventory so the game treats it as worn.

  4. 4

    Add a storage target

Wear electric armor (Nano Suit, Quantum Suit) or a Batpack on the chest slot; without a target the generated EU has nowhere to go.

  5. 5

    Stand under open sky

Move outdoors during daytime so direct sunlight reaches the top of your head and Solar Helmet starts producing EU.

Tip

Solar Helmet only generates power when an unobstructed sky is directly above the player; output stops at night, in rain, in caves, and under any block.

Frequently asked questions

How much EU does Solar Helmet generate?

About 1 EU/t in direct sunlight under an open sky, comparable to a single IC2 Solar Panel.

What armor can Solar Helmet charge?

It feeds EU into electric chest armor such as Nano Suit and Quantum Suit, or into a Batpack worn on the chest slot.

Does Solar Helmet work at night or in rain?

No. Output requires direct sunlight and an unobstructed sky; it stops at night, during rain, indoors, and underground.

What is the crafting recipe?

On a Crafting Table place a Solar Panel above a base helmet (typically leather or iron) to craft Solar Helmet.

Does Solar Helmet provide armor value?

No, it does not add defense on its own; its only role is passive EU generation while worn.

Do I need a Batpack with Solar Helmet?

Some IC2 Experimental builds require a Batpack or electric chestplate so the generated EU has a storage target; otherwise the energy is wasted.
