Reactor Heat Exchanger
Reactor Heat Exchanger moves heat to and from a Nuclear Reactor's hull at 72 hU/s (heat units per second) in Industrial Craft 2.
Description
Crafting takes eight Copper Plates around one Heat Exchanger in the crafting grid and yields a single Reactor Heat Exchanger. Inside the Nuclear Reactor, the Reactor Heat Exchanger balances hull temperature, and heat-pulling components such as the basic Heat Exchanger draw that stored heat away. One Reactor Heat Exchanger also enters the Lzh Condensator recipe together with one Reactor Heat Vent, two Rsh Condensators, one Lapis Block, and four Redstone. Choose the Reactor Heat Exchanger when the Nuclear Reactor hull heats up faster than the 4 hU/s basic Heat Exchanger can balance.
Guide
How to Craft and Use the Reactor Heat Exchanger in Industrial Craft 2
-
1
Craft a basic Heat Exchanger
Lay out five Copper Plates, three Tin Plates, and one Electronic Circuit on the crafting grid — copper, circuit, copper in the top row, tin, copper, tin in the middle, copper, tin, copper at the bottom — to make the one Heat Exchanger the upgrade needs.
-
2
Craft the Reactor Heat Exchanger
Place the Heat Exchanger in the center of the crafting grid and fill the eight remaining cells with Copper Plates; one Reactor Heat Exchanger comes out of the recipe.
-
3
Insert the part into a Nuclear Reactor
Put the Reactor Heat Exchanger into a component slot inside the Industrial Craft 2 Nuclear Reactor, where the part starts moving heat to and from the reactor hull at 72 hU/s.
-
4
Pair the part with heat-pulling components
Add another Heat Exchanger to the same reactor, because only components that pull heat remove heat from the Reactor Heat Exchanger.
The Reactor Heat Exchanger has no component exchange rate, so the reactor hull stays the part's only heat partner.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Reactor Heat Exchanger a block in Industrial Craft 2?
The Reactor Heat Exchanger is a reactor component item, not a placed block. The part sits in a component slot inside the Nuclear Reactor and never gets set into the world.
What is the difference between the Heat Exchanger and the Reactor Heat Exchanger?
The Heat Exchanger moves 4 hU/s to the hull and 12 hU/s to adjacent components with a 2500 hU capacity. The Reactor Heat Exchanger moves 72 hU/s to the hull, has no component exchange at all, and stores 5000 hU.
How does heat leave the Reactor Heat Exchanger?
Only a component that pulls heat, such as another Heat Exchanger, can remove heat from the Reactor Heat Exchanger. Without such a partner the stored heat stays inside the part.
What does the Reactor Heat Exchanger craft into?
One Reactor Heat Exchanger enters the Lzh Condensator recipe with one Reactor Heat Vent, two Rsh Condensators, one Lapis Block, and four Redstone.
