Description

Nano-Helmet is the electric head armor of the Industrial Craft 2 NanoSuit, running on EU instead of durability: every half heart of absorbed damage costs 5,000 EU out of a 1,000,000 EU battery. Nano-Helmet gives 3 armor points and 2 armor toughness, never breaks, and cannot be enchanted. As a Tier 3 item, Nano-Helmet accepts only HV or EV current, so charging happens at an MFE or above. The crafting ingredients even hand their charge over to the finished Nano-Helmet, capped at the same 1,000,000 EU.

Nano-Helmet inherits night vision from the Nightvision Goggles in its recipe and toggles the feature with Alt plus the mode switch key (M by default), drawing 1 EU/t while active. A three-mode HUD — Disabled, Basic, Extended — shows the charge of electric armor as a percentage, costs no EU, and cycles with Alt plus the HUD expand key (X by default), while Nano-Helmet remembers the chosen mode. The recipe spends 4 Carbon Plate, 1 Energy Crystal, and 1 Nightvision Goggles. The full NanoSuit (Nano-Helmet, Nano Chestplate, Nano Leggings, Nano Boots) reaches 20 armor points and 8 armor toughness. Nano-Helmet later serves as an ingredient of the Quantum Helmet, the next armor tier.

Guide

How to craft and use the Nano-Helmet in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

    Craft the helmet

Arrange 4 Carbon Plate, 1 Energy Crystal, and 1 Nightvision Goggles on a crafting table: Carbon Plate, Energy Crystal, Carbon Plate across the top row and Carbon Plate, Nightvision Goggles, Carbon Plate across the middle row.

  2. 2

Charge at an MFE or above

Nano-Helmet is a Tier 3 item and takes only HV or EV current, so charge the helmet at an MFE or a higher-tier unit until the 1,000,000 EU battery is full.

  3. 3

    Toggle night vision

Press Alt together with the mode switch key, M by default, to turn night vision on or off; the feature draws 1 EU/t while active.

  4. 4

    Pick a HUD mode

Cycle Disabled, Basic, and Extended with Alt plus the HUD expand key, X by default: Basic shows the charge of each electric armor piece as a percentage, and the setting stays saved on the Nano-Helmet.

  5. 5

Carry the helmet into the Quantum Helmet

Keep the crafted Nano-Helmet for the endgame: the Quantum Helmet recipe takes 1 Nano-Helmet, so the same piece moves into the next armor tier.

Charge travels through crafting

A charged Energy Crystal moves its energy into the finished Nano-Helmet during crafting, up to the 1,000,000 EU limit — anything beyond the cap is lost.

Frequently asked questions

How much protection does the Nano-Helmet give?

Nano-Helmet gives 3 armor points and 2 armor toughness. Worn with the Nano Chestplate, Nano Leggings, and Nano Boots, the suit totals 20 armor points and 8 armor toughness.

Can the Nano-Helmet break or receive enchantments?

No. Unlike the Diamond Helmet, Nano-Helmet never breaks and cannot be enchanted; absorbed damage costs EU instead of durability.

How expensive is the Nano-Helmet to run?

Each half heart of absorbed damage costs 5,000 EU, night vision draws 1 EU/t while active, and the HUD is free of any EU cost.

How do I check the remaining charge?

Set the HUD to Basic mode and read the charge of every electric armor piece as a percentage. Extended mode adds the name, durability, and exact charge of the held item.

Did zombies ever wear NanoSuits?

Yes — IC2 version 1.108 for Minecraft 1.4.5 let zombies wearing NanoSuits appear around Halloween, 31 October.
