Description

Carbon Plate is an Industrial Craft 2 (IC2) crafting material produced by smelting Carbon Mesh in a Furnace at a 1:1 ratio, or by compressing Carbon Mesh inside an IC2 Compressor for higher throughput. Carbon Plate appears as a thin, dark grey sheet with a woven fibre texture, reflecting its origin as heat-treated carbon fibre cloth. Carbon Plate exists only with the Industrial Craft 2 mod installed on Minecraft Java Edition versions 1.7.10 and 1.12.2, and Carbon Plate is fully stackable up to 64 per slot for convenient long-term storage in factories.

Carbon Plate is a core ingredient in Industrial Craft 2 armor crafting, supplying the lightweight outer layer of the Composite Vest, Composite Boots and other reinforced pieces, and Carbon Plate also feeds into the higher-tier Nano Armor recipes alongside Advanced Alloy. Carbon Plate gives IC2 builders a renewable, fully craftable alternative to mob-drop or ore-based protection, so Carbon Plate is most useful when scaling armor production through automated Compressor lines and a steady Coal Dust supply for the upstream Carbon Mesh step.

How to craft Carbon Plate in Minecraft Industrial Craft 2

    Prepare Coal Dust

    Grind Coal in an IC2 Macerator to obtain Coal Dust, the base material for Carbon Fibre.

    Extract Carbon Fibre

    Place Coal Dust into an IC2 Extractor to convert it into Raw Carbon Fibre units.

    Craft Carbon Mesh

    Combine eight Raw Carbon Fibre on a Crafting Table to produce one Carbon Mesh sheet.

    Smelt or compress into Carbon Plate

    Smelt Carbon Mesh in a Furnace, or run it through an IC2 Compressor, to obtain one Carbon Plate per Carbon Mesh.

    Stockpile for armor

    Store Carbon Plate in a chest near your crafting setup so Composite Vest and Nano Armor recipes are quick to assemble.

Tip

The Compressor route is more EU-efficient at scale than smelting, especially when paired with a solar or geothermal generator array.
