Guide
How to craft and use Carbon Mesh
-
1
Gather Coal Dust
Collect at least six Coal Dust by grinding Coal in an IC2 Macerator. Each piece of Coal yields one Coal Dust, so six pieces of Coal are enough for a single Carbon Mesh.
-
2
Arrange the crafting grid
Open a standard 3×3 crafting table. Place three Coal Dust in the top row and three Coal Dust in the middle row, leaving the bottom row empty. The result slot will show one Carbon Mesh.
-
3
Choose smelt or compress
To get a Carbon Plate, either smelt the Carbon Mesh in a regular Furnace or place it into an IC2 Compressor. The Compressor uses EU but wastes no fuel, making it more efficient for bulk production.
-
4
Use Carbon Plates in armor
Combine Carbon Plates with other IC2 components to craft composite armor and nano-tier gear. Carbon Mesh itself is never worn — only its smelted form contributes to defense.

Frequently asked questions
What is Carbon Mesh used for?
Carbon Mesh is an intermediate item that is converted into Carbon Plate by smelting in a Furnace or compressing in an IC2 Compressor. Carbon Plate is then used for IC2 composite and nano-tier armor.
How do you craft Carbon Mesh?
Place three Coal Dust in the top row and three Coal Dust in the middle row of a 3×3 crafting grid. The recipe yields one Carbon Mesh per six Coal Dust.
Is Carbon Mesh in vanilla Minecraft?
No. Carbon Mesh exists only in the Industrial Craft 2 mod for Minecraft Java Edition. It does not spawn naturally and has no Bedrock Edition equivalent.
Should I smelt or compress Carbon Mesh?
Both methods give one Carbon Plate per Carbon Mesh. The IC2 Compressor uses EU but consumes no fuel, which is more efficient when processing many meshes at once.
