Players insert Component Heat Exchanger into a Nuclear Reactor slot next to the components whose heat levels need balancing, because the 36 hU per second transfer runs entirely between neighbors. Four Component Heat Exchangers later serve as the four corner ingredients of the Charging Energy Crystal recipe on a 3x3 crafting grid. For reactor layouts that must also pull heat through the hull, the basic Heat Exchanger, which transfers 4 hU per second through the hull, stays the matching pick, because Component Heat Exchanger offers no hull transfer at all.
